DIRECTOR'S INSIGHT
ALIGNED is about being compassionate with the part of ourselves that always feels broken and not enough, lovable, or worthy. These tendencies toward insecurity, negativity, and fear can sabotage our dreams. It is about reaching a point where we transform self-doubt into self-love to overcome fear and judgment and embrace our human imperfections. Apollo Bakopoulos

Why this film?
Many gay men face deep challenges in their sexual and romantic lives. From navigating a culture that often feels hypersexualized to carrying the lingering weight of societal shame, it’s no surprise that so many struggle to cultivate the kind of deep, fulfilling connection their hearts truly long for.
Beneath the surface, there is often a profound lack of validation—rooted in fear around sexuality.
Nearly 1 in 5 adults experience anxiety and depression.
70% of high-achievers and creatives struggle with imposter syndrome.
Two-thirds of LGBTQ+ young people (that’s 2X the rate of the general population) reported experiencing anxiety and depression, according to the NIH.
6 out of 10 LGBTQ+ youth face discrimination. Nearly 40% have seriously considered suicide.
As positive role models are lacking in mainstream media, many queer youth are left navigating their deepest emotional needs in a cultural landscape that rarely reflects holistic authentic love, softness, or the vulnerability they deserve.
Our already limited representation often reinforces these dynamics—and rarely offers images of emotional depth, resilience, or empowered queer connection.

Reconnecting to the authentic self and aligning with our inner voice is necessary for deeper connection and genuine bonds. We aim to portray healthy, authentic examples of intimacy—especially for impressionable LGBTQ+ youth.
The limited and distorted representation we’ve seen in media deserves to be rewritten, honoring the full humanity and beauty of who we are.
