WHAT IS IT About?
''An intimate portrayal of two young male dancers who forge an artistic and sensual bond, transcending fear and self-doubt to live empowered and authentic lives.''
Aeneas, struggling with fear of rejection and anxiety. When he is paired with Alex, a visiting Greek-American dancer for his dance thesis, the two young men find a connection that grows beyond their art. The intoxicating power of physical discovery and a shared love of Hellas (Greece) and New York City unfold in a love story through music and movement. This intimate tale reveals the beauty that lies within us all and the transformative power of self-love.

DIRECTOR'S INSIGHT
ALIGNED is about being compassionate with the part of ourselves that always feels broken and not enough, lovable, or worthy. These tendencies toward insecurity, negativity, and fear can sabotage our dreams. It is about reaching a point where we transform self-doubt into self-love to overcome fear and judgment and embrace our human imperfections. Apollo Bakopoulos

Why this film?
Many gay men face deep challenges in their sexual and romantic lives.
From navigating a culture that often feels hypersexualized to carrying the lingering weight of societal shame, emotionally fulfilling intimacy can feel confusing and out of reach.
Beneath the surface, there is often a deep craving for validation, rooted in a fear of inadequacy.
While this cultural landscape affects many, access to healthy guidance remains limited. In mainstream media, emotionally grounded representations of love and connection are common but rarely centered on queer men, especially for LGBTQ+ youth.
As positive role models are lacking, many queer youth are left navigating their deepest emotional needs in a landscape that rarely reflects authentic love, softness, or the vulnerability they deserve:
Hypersexualization eclipses tenderness.
Performance replaces presence.
Vulnerability feels unsafe.
Softness feels weak.
Love feels unattainable.
The Reality
-
Two-thirds of LGBTQ+ youth report anxiety and depression—nearly 2X the rate of the general population.
-
6 in 10 LGBTQ+ youth face discrimination.
-
Nearly 40% have seriously considered suicide.
Our limited representation often reinforces this dynamic, with few multi-dimensional queer protagonists with emotional depth.

reimagining intimacy
ALIGNED was born from this tension.
This film centers emotionally present connection, offering LGBTQ+ youth and adults a vision of love grounded in wholeness.
Representation is restorative.
New choices become imaginable.
